Idea 1:
Inspiration:

28 Days Later
In 28 days later, director Danny Boyle uses shadows to initialise the threat of the infected against the survivors before they are seen. The introduction of the businessman in my segment is inspired by this but is used to represent the end of the protagonist’s teenage years looming closer yet still seeming far away.

The Matrix
The design of the agents all being men in suits and in mass inspired my idea of the businessman antagonist as it personifies the protagonists fear of being forced into uniformity and forced into the dull and monotony of the workforce.

Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s day off
This character is the direct inspiration of my protagonist as at the beginning of the film other than his family issues his fear of adulthood causes his severe anxiety much like the protagonist.
Cinematography, mise-en-scene and editing/sound
Cinematography – establishing shot from opposite platform placing Eric in the centre of an overhead light this signifies his innocence or youth being placed in the foreground. Antagonist is introduced
Idea 2:
Inspirations

Doctor who – Blink
In the episode ‘Blink’ a character is attacked by the weeping angels and is transported to a farm, this inspires the scene of James waking up in the farm after being killed even though in my film the farm represents purgatory

Silent Hill 2 – In water ending
By the end of Silent Hill 2 James Sunderland had experienced unimaginable horrors in search of his wife but at the end of the game he comes across a tape showing him suffocating his wife with a pillow due to his anger at her and her disease for “ruining his life” after this realisation James’ grief overwhelms him and he drives into a lake with his wife’s body in the back of the car to kill himself this thematically plays similarly to my protagonist’s realisation of his acts and eventual suicide.
Cinematography, mise-en-scene and editing/sound
Props- Fake blood, a gun
Setting – Segment starts in a field until James’ realisation where he suddenly appears outside his home.
Sound – during the end scene of James’ actions the camera will cut to black as only the gunshots can be heard ringing out. During James’ realisation music will start which matches his confused state.
Cinematography- James’ realisation will be matched with a shot closing in on James’ face to match the crumbling world around him. The ending shot will be from far away to contrast this however showing James’ disassociation it will be taken from a low shot by one of the family members feet being in the foreground and James in the background as he commits suicide.
Idea 3:
Inspirations

Resident Evil 7: biohazard
This game heavily inspires my plot as the game’s plot is initiated by a message sent the protagonist Ethan by his wife who has been missing for 3 years saying where she is so he travels to Louisiana in attempt to find her in which he does but becomes trapped in a dilapidated house by the Baker family.

Silent Hill 2
The idea of antagonists that personify trauma draws especially from the silent hill franchise whose monsters and the town are design to play on the protagonist’s emotions for example guilt in the second game
Cinematography, mise-en-scene and editing/sound

The descent (2005)
The descent’s editing style gives an extremely unwelcoming and claustrophobic tension to the film which will inspire my film’s. This would work as an effective way to keep the viewer second guessing about what happens next and keep the much-wanted tension rising through tight corridors in the old home.
Sound
In horror, a common trope is to have unnerving and “scary” sound design made to build tension in which I will use for example: slowly creaking doors in the background, slowly building harsh music with a sudden climax which will portray Guy’s shock when an antagonist finds him.
